When you visit
Your browser sends connection information, including your IP address, the page requested, request time, and browser information. This information is used to deliver pages, investigate problems, and protect the site against abuse. You do not need to provide your name or email address to read articles.
Article searches run in your browser. Your search words are not sent to a search service or saved as a search history.
What your browser saves
Your browser saves your reading preferences and unfinished edit drafts. These stay on your device until you clear them or your browser removes them. Random browsing also keeps a temporary list for the tab session to avoid repeating articles.
Use Clear draft to delete an article’s draft and Reset preferences under Appearance to restore the defaults. Your browser settings can remove all saved site information. This storage supports features you choose to use, not advertising or tracking.
Emails and suggestions
Emails are forwarded to our inbox. We use your address, message, and any attachments to respond to your enquiry.
Continue on GitHub sends your prepared suggestion to GitHub before you submit it. Submission requires a GitHub account. Submitted suggestions include your username and the information you provide. Repository participants can read them; submissions to a public repository are public. Avoid including private information in suggestions.
GitHub handles information under its own privacy statement.
Service providers and retention
Website delivery, security, email forwarding, and mailbox providers process the information needed for their services. GitHub receives information when you use its contribution features.
Technical records are retained as needed for troubleshooting and security. Correspondence is kept as needed for your enquiry and follow-up. Contributions may remain in project history to explain article changes. Legal obligations or unresolved disputes can require longer retention. Contact us about personal information in these records.
